Congrats on Regionals!
On January 23-24, we hosted a very successful AMEA West Regional Audition experience for over 1000 students on our campus. THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered to help us provide this FIRST CLASS experience for so many kids, directors, and judges. We appreciate the “all hands on deck” mentality of our band, orchestra, and choir community to make this happen! We also want to congratulate ALL our CdS students that participated in the audition process. Preparing and performing an audition is a life skill that can transfer to so many other careers after high school - and we are very proud of our students who showed up and gave it their best effort!
We are happy to report that we had 65 students from Corona Bands that successfully auditioned into the West Regional Honor Band or Honor Orchestra, the most in school history, and the most amount of students from any region school. Nine students also were selected as alternates and will move into the group if someone cannot participate. Eleven CdS band members received the TOP SCORE on their instrument in the region, and seven made it on multiple instruments or ensembles! We also celebrate the success of our sister programs, who also placed the most students in their respective groups - with the CdS Orchestras placing 34 string musicians into the Honor Orchestra, and the CdS Choirs placing 32 vocal musicians into the Honor Choir. Congrats Aztecs!
Students making it into the groups will need to pay a $30 participation fee to the bookstore - all band students should pay for “Regional Band Participation” (even if they are in Orchestra - still select BAND). Students will receive music to start practicing over the next few short weeks, as well as schedules and order forms for merchandise/recordings. Regional Music musicians will travel together on February 13 and February 14 for all-day rehearsals at Central High School in Phoenix, with concerts on Saturday afternoon. More info to come!
