Jazz Bands will start on Monday, November 17 as marching band concludes. All Rehearsals will be “Zero Hour” 6:20am-7:15am every school day. Jazz will start to work together on a set of winter/holiday music and perform at the Holiday Band Concert Dinner on Thursday December 11 (catered by RigaTonys)

After the Holiday Concert, we will do auditions for Jazz Band ensemble and part placement. Anyone who auditions will get a spot in one of the bands. In January, the groups will start to work independently during zero hour and prepare for jazz concerts and festivals, as well as getting together as a large group occasionally to work on improvisation. Audition material will be posted below. Students do NOT need to have been in Marching Band to audition for Jazz Band. Brass, Woodwind, and Percussionists need to be enrolled in a Concert Band or Percussion class to audition. Guitars, piano, or vocalists do NOT need to be in a concert band class. Students can ALSO audition for Steel Band, but should choose either jazz or steel after auditions have concluded (as they are both zero hour classes)

Jazz Band will officially start as a zero hour class starting in January. Students will get Jazz on their schedule and receive Fine Arts credit. There are no additional fees to participate in Jazz Bands! The groups will perform at several concerts, gigs, and festivals (See schedule below). Students can also choose to audition for ALL-STATE JAZZ if interested (sign up on the main band webpage).
